Start of Year Updates

 

Hello!  We hope that you have had a restful and relaxing summer, and we are excited to welcome you all back in September for another exciting year.  As we approach the start of the school year, here are a few important updates:

 

School begins on September 8 and the hours will remain 8:00 - 2:20. Information regarding the Early Drop Off program will be coming soon and class information will be emailed on September 6.  Supply lists have been emailed and are also available on our website at www.ps55.org .  The website calendar has been updated with all important dates so please visit that page for more information.

 

Daily health screenings will no longer be required, and we will no longer have on-site PCR testing for students or staff.  Positive Covid cases will still be reported to the situation room and any student or staff that tests positive will still quarantine for 5 days and then return to school with a mask for days 6-10.  Home test kits will be sent home to anyone exposed in class, and to all students and staff once per month.

 

The PTA Willingness to Serve form has already been sent through Operoo.  Please make sure you fill that out if you are interested in serving on a committee.  

 

As a reminder all families should fill out the Family Income Inquiry Form.  It can be found here: https://www.myschoolapps.com/ .  

 

Please pay attention to your email over the next few weeks as the start of year forms (including the Blue Card) will be sent via Operoo BEFORE the first day, and should be completed as soon as possible.

 

Lastly, all families should visit their parent account at www.schoolsaccount.nyc and verify that the parent address, email address, and phone number is correct.  The DOE will be switching to a new communication system and using the contact information provided by these accounts.  Incoming families may not have access to this until after the first day of school - I will reach out with your log in information at that time.
